Karen Boyle is Director of the Centre for Gender and Feminist Studies at the University of Stirling, and she is the only Professor of Feminist Media Studies in the United Kingdom. She is Programme Director for the MLitt/MSc in Gender Studies and Co-Director of the MLitt in Film Studies: Theory and Practice. Her research interests include violence, gender and representation, focusing more recently on pornography and the sexualisation of culture. Boyle is also interested in questions of gender and genre, and female authorship, particularly in cinema.
